Donald Trump Says White House Will Prohibit Associated Press From Events Until They Agree To Rename Gulf Of Mexico

Donald Trump weighed in directly Tuesday for the first time on his efforts to freeze out the Associated Press from White House events because the news service declined to rename the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America.

The AP, the White House Correspondents’ Association and First Amendment groups have condemned the White House’s actions as an effort to punish journalists for content they dislike. Trump pitched himself as restoring free speech to the federal government, but they have used various tactics to try to stymie news outlets.

Speaking to reporters at Mar-a-Lago today, Trump said, “The Associated Press just refuses to go with what the law is, and what has taken place. It’s called the Gulf of America now. It’s not called the Gulf of Mexico any longer. I have the right to do it.”

“We are going to keep them out until such time that they agree it is the Gulf of America.”

He also cited AP coverage of him, Republicans and conservatives, and said, “They are doing us no favors and I guess I am doing them no favors.”

The AP last week was banned from an Oval Office pool, and later from attending a press conference and travel on Air Force One. The stated reason was the news organization’s decision to retain the name Gulf of Mexico in its style guide after Trump signed an executive order renaming it as the Gulf of America.

The AP said that the decision was made to retain the name Gulf of Mexico because it is an international body of water. The AP noted that Trump’s order “only carries authority within the United States. Mexico, as well as other countries and international bodies, do not have to recognize the name change.” The AP said that it would still acknowledge the name that Trump had chosen.

AP spokesperson Lauren Easton said, “This is about the government telling the public and the press what words to use and retaliating if they do not follow government orders. The White House has restricted AP’s coverage of presidential events because of how we refer to a location. The Associated Press has provided critical and independent coverage of the White House for over 100 years.”

People Are Blaming Cheap Shampoo For Causing Male Pattern Baldness
It’s a running joke (and arguably a pretty tired one, at this point) that men don’t know how to take care of themselves. Across the internet, you’ll find loads of videos of young women trying to teach their boyfriends the basics of skin care. Commonly, the men have never heard of moisturizer; some don’t even know to wash their faces. Personal care brands famously sell those 3-in-1 (or 4, or 5…) combo products that combine shampoo, conditioner and body wash — presumably because when you’re a man, you don’t have time to use three different products to serve three discrete purposes, I guess. Never mind that shampoo and conditioner aren’t even meant to go on the same parts of your hair.

Scotiabank Global Equity Research predicted U.S. President Donald Trump’s 10 per cent tariff on all energy imports from Canada, due to go into effect Tuesday, would be short-lived, as higher energy costs pinch American consumers. On Monday afternoon, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said the U.S. has agreed to pause tariffs on Canada for at least 30 days.

Tom Sandoval wants to 'move on' from scandal
Tom Sandoval wants to "move on" from his cheating scandal. The 42-year-old reality star split from Ariana Madix in 2023 after it emerged that he had a months-long affair with his 'Vanderpump Rules' co-star Rachel Leviss - but Tom has now drawn a line under the scandal and is instead focusing on his future. He told Us Weekly: "It’s been two years; I want to move on from that and continue with my life." Tom became a public hate figure in the immediate aftermath of the cheating scandal, but the reality star now feels the "hate has died down". He shared: "I want to leave that stuff in the past. "I’m sure there’s still people out there who hold on to that - I know there are - but the hate has died down for sure. Whether they’re laughing with me [or] laughing at me, at least they’re laughing, and that’s what I love." Tom was in a relationship with Ariana from 2013 until 2023, and the celebrity duo actually still own a home together. However, Tom has confirmed that they're currently in the process of finding a solution to the issue. He explained: "It’s been a process. It’s definitely in the works, and I’m looking forward to moving on and closing - like, really fully closing - that chapter. It’s closed in my life, but this is the only thing that’s sort of [still] there." Despite this, Tom also admitted that he continues to be reminded of his past mistakes. The reality star - who is dating model Victoria Lee Robinson - shared: "My girlfriend, Victoria, gets a lot of stuff that’s unfair to her, which I feel really bad about. The only thing she’s guilty of is loving me. I wish people would leave her alone. Save it for me!"
