Bruins Star Gets Big Praise From Auston Matthews

Boston Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy won't be in the lineup for Team USA's Feb. 17 matchup against Team Sweden. Team USA head coach Mike Sullivan did not reveal the exact reason for the Bruins star being scratched.

McAvoy being taken out of the lineup comes after he had a strong night against Team Canada on Feb. 15. The right-shot defenseman most notably threw a big hit on Connor McDavid that stopped Canada's offensive chance and soon after led to Jake Guentzel scoring for Team USA.

McAvoy's physicality and steady defensive play have impacted the tournament, and he certainly has caught the attention of Team USA teammate Auston Matthews.

While speaking with reporters, including WEEI's Tom Carroll, the Toronto Maple Leafs captain had some kind words to say about McAvoy's play.

"He is such a big factor for us on the back end," Matthews said about McAvoy. "Just the way he plays, his physicality and everything. I thought the other night he was great for us. He made a big impact physically, and a guy that when he's out there, you have to be aware of when you're going up against him. So, one of my close friends still from the National Program days, so it's been a lot of fun playing with him again."

It is hard to disagree with Matthews' comments about McAvoy. There is no question that the Bruins defender makes a serious impact with his physicality, and he certainly has during this tournament.

McAvoy and Matthews last played together as teammates during the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons with the USA National Team Development Program. While they play for big-time rivals today, it's clear that Matthews' respect for McAvoy has not disappeared in the slightest.

Angela Bassett didn't shed any tears when she dropped her kids off at college. The 66-year-old actress has revealed that she felt "lots of joy" when she dropped her 19-year-old twins, Bronwyn and Slater, off at their new school. The award-winning star - who has been married to actor Courtney B. Vance since 1997 - told the 'Today' show: "You know what, no tears. Just lots of joy. "You think you're going to cry, and because you think you are going to do that, it doesn't happen. Angela previously insisted that she will support her kids if they follow her into the movie business. The Hollywood star revealed that she will always support her children - irrespective of what they do in their careers. Speaking about her kids' interests, Angela explained to PEOPLE: "They want to follow the success, but whether it be acting, I don't get any clues to that right now. Angela previously won the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in 'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever', and the movie star revealed that she celebrated her success with her kids. GLENDALE, Ariz. — It’s not too often a sellout crowd is in attendance to see a pitcher who's not starting, but that was the case Tuesday as the world waited to finally watch Japanese phenom Roki Sasaki make his spring training debut for the Los Angeles Dodgers against the Cincinnati Reds. It’s been a slow ramp-up to game action for Sasaki, who signed a minor-league deal with the Dodgers this winter. And after pitching in a simulated game last week, he got his first take of game action under the lights at Camelback Ranch.
